Our Services
CAS assists private and public entities in bringing their facilities into compliance with state and federal accessibility standards. Our team includes a CA-licensed architect, Certified Access Specialists (CASp), CA DSA-trained plan reviewers, and experienced technical staff who have evaluated site facilities and buildings for accessibility on behalf of numerous entities and property owners.
We prepare comprehensive survey reports that identify accessibility barriers, recommendations for solutions, and estimated costs of repairs.
Access Compliance Plan Reviews.
CAS team members have provided Access Compliance Plan Review services for significant and complex project designs. Our experience with a broad spectrum of project types informs our approach to the review of construction drawings and specifications for compliance with accessibility standards including the California Building Code, the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Standards, and related codes and standards.
Accessibility Evaluations.
We offer comprehensive Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan services on behalf of California entities to evaluate and recommend steps for implementation relative to compliance with requirements under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. This work includes assessments of facilities (buildings and sitework) to comply with state and federal accessibility standards. We identify areas of nonconformance and recommend measures to address these conditions.
Client Training.
We have provided training covering a variety of topics related to accessibility to built environments, information and communication technologies, and transportation. Our training programs are developed under the supervision of CAS President, Glenn Dea, who has been a provider of over 60 accessibility training presentations to licensed architects and engineers, attorneys, public agencies, and professional organizations, including the Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD), the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), the California Lawyers Association (CLA), the National ADA Symposium, California State University - Office of the Chancellor, and the Certified Access Specialist Institute (CASI).
Codes and Standards Development.
On behalf of the International Sign Association, CAS President, Glenn Dea, has served as an alternate delegate (since 2014) and as primary delegate (starting in 2021) to the ICC/ANSI Committee on Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities, contributing to creation of the 2017 Edition of the ICC A117.1 Accessibility Standard. The ICC A117.1 standard is developed by a committee of approximately 50 individuals and organizations representing associations of persons with disabilities, government agencies, rehabilitation professionals, design professionals, builders, and manufacturers. The standard is adopted by building code jurisdictions throughout the United States.
Glenn also became a participating member of ASTM International in 2013. The scope of Committee F08 covers standardization of specifications, test methods and practices for sports equipment, surfaces, and facilities to reduce inherent risk of injuries and promote knowledge as it relates to these standards. As part of the F08.30 Fitness Products Technical Subcommittee, Glenn participated in work to develop new ASTM International standards providing specifications for fitness equipment that will be accessible to users of all abilities, including those with disabilities: ASTM F3021, Specification for Universal Design of Fitness Equipment for Inclusive Use by Persons with Functional Limitations and Impairments, and ASTM F3022, Test Method for Evaluating the Universal Design of Fitness Equipment for Inclusive Use by Persons with Functional Limitations and Impairments.

CAS has provided its expertise to attorneys to assist in the resolution of lawsuits, complaints, and claims related to state and federal access laws.
